Week Five: God Can Use You….
We often think of the word “dare” as something bad, usually associated with someone challenging us to do something dangerous that is unnecessary and might even be fatal. However, when I looked up the verb “dare,” it means to “have the courage to do something.” To have the courage to do something can be good or bad for us. Are you familiar with the toys called “Transformers?” Each one starts out looking like one thing, then various parts move so the whole thing becomes something totally different. Some parts stay the same; others change to take on the appearance of something with a different purpose—a powerful robot. This toy makes a good visual of how, in real life, we are transformable in the hands of the living Christ and His transforming power. So, how do we cooperate with our transformer? We are to be different from the world around us knowing it’s for our own good. And, we are to do this by faith, like everything else in our Christian life.

Casey’s Day
Have you ever felt like you couldn’t do something because you weren’t big enough? If you have younger brothers and sisters, what can you do that they’re not yet able to do? Maybe go on a certain ride, or eat more junk food, or choose when your bedtime is?
In Exodus 2:1-10, you read how God used Miriam, a kid, to save baby Moses. Imagine how Miriam must have felt when God used Moses to save Israel, knowing that she played such an important role in his life! While Miriam was a kid doing normal everyday things—watching her brother, helping her mom—God used her!
We may have to wait until we’re bigger to do some things. But, just as God did not wait until Miriam was bigger, he does not need to wait until you are bigger to use you to bless others. Maybe you enjoy making beautiful works of art: God can use that to teach a new way to look at his creation. Maybe you enjoy growing things in a garden; God can use that to remind someone that he cares for them. Maybe there is a kid at school who others bully: God might put you beside them at lunch and through your kindness show that kid how much he loves them. God can use the things you are able to do right now to serve him. How might God use you this week to bless someone else?
WHAT IS THE BIBLE: The Story Begins
WHAT YOU SAY:
Moses’ journey certainly was a long and winding one. It took him from a humble beginning as a baby floating in a basket on a river to a privileged upbringing in the temple. Then, forced to run for his life, he wandered in the desert for many years before God called him back to Egypt to stick up for his people and lead them to freedom from Pharaoh. These events revealed that God had a plan for Moses and worked through his life to fulfill the plans he had for his people, the Israelites. God prepared Moses in unique and special ways to be the shepherd that would lead God’s people from slavery and to a promised land. Things didn’t always go perfectly for Moses. He went through some very difficult times in order to lead God’s people. The Israelites weren’t always easy to lead, or even happy about being led. But Moses did what God told him to do in order to fulfill God’s purposes for him and his people.
